What we do
NYC is a new way of doing and being church with young people across Cumbria.
We create spaces which are safe and welcoming but don’t shy away from the big questions of life. We want to encourage confidence, participation, understanding and growth.
NYC is open to all young people, regardless of who you are or what you believe. It’s somewhere you can be yourself, where community happens, and real relationships are forged.
Activities
It’s impossible to describe all our groups and activities! NYC runs everything from drop-in youth clubs to question spaces, cafe spaces to prayer spaces, schools work to street-based youth work, outdoor activities, days out, and indoor sports. There are activities happening in halls, churches, cafés, classrooms and bus stops!
There are large scale events which happen once a year, gathering all the young people from across NYC Cumbria. And there are smaller, more local events where young people from different areas can meet.
Our young people benefit from the opportunity to go on different residentials. Some are local and are run by our regional NYC teams, and some are larger – such as our summer camps and trips to national festivals.
No matter what we are doing, thousands of young people a month enjoy being part of NYC.

NYC Brampton & Longton
NYC runs regular groups and activities across the area both weekly and monthly, these vary in style from drop-In sessions to groups that enjoy a meal together while they think about the Christian faith.

NYC Eden
Welcome to Eden Network Youth Church. We work with young people aged 11-18 across the Eden area. Hosting Youth groups, lunch clubs in secondary schools, Discipleship groups and partnering with some secular youth work providers and NISCU.
NYC Whitehaven
We get together for food, fun and friendship at St Andrew's Church in Mirehouse, Whitehaven and in local secondary schools. For those who want to, we do church together in ways that make sense to young people.
NYC Windermere
Covering the Cartmel Peninsula, the towns and villages surrounding Lake Windermere and Staveley we seek to provide spaces to find friendship, fun and explore faith.
