Cockermouth, Keswick, Binsey and surrounding villages
Derwent NYC supports and leads youth work in the Cockermouth and Keswick areas and in the villages surrounding Binsey Fell, from Bassenthwaite all the way up to Mealsgate.
Our aim is to help young people aged 11-18 to explore their faith in different ways, meeting young people where they are, and encouraging them to find out more about Jesus.
We support the running of Christian Union clubs within Keswick and Cockermouth School, join in the Games clubs run by NISCU at both high schools and can be found taking part in JUMP at Christ Church and Midweek Youth at St Aidan’s. We are also getting to know the young people at Mayfield School, in Cockermouth. From time to time, we can be found volunteering at the Keswick Youth Club.
We have big plans for more clubs, residentials and trips throughout the year and are building a base of wonderful volunteers to help us.
Alongside that, it is the aim of Derwent NYC to support local churches to engage with the young people in their area and help the churches provide young person friendly opportunities for faith journeying.
