NYC Penrith

We believe in equipping and empowering young people so they may use their gifts to shape the world around us into a better place for all.

Penrith NYC have many different clubs that run in a variety of contexts, including youth centres, churches, secondary schools, and local community spaces. Each group is led by dedicated teams of safely recruited volunteers, interns, and young leaders from a wide range of backgrounds, all united by a shared vision of helping young people reach their potential. Ecumenical partnerships are also central to Penrith NYC, supporting the continuation of its work.

At Penrith NYC, we run two young leader’s programmes designed for those who want to build independence, develop leadership, and grow their skills. Our local young leaders’ schemes operate within each group, offering opportunities to learn about safeguarding, leadership, and youth group governance and management, alongside gaining practical experience by supporting the team.

Our Youth Labyrinth young leaders programme runs across the academic year and provides more in-depth training. It includes a residential in the Lakes with other Youth Lab participants, as well as an away day in Cumbria. The programme concludes with a celebration at Carlisle Cathedral, where young leaders receive certificates and hoodies to recognise their achievements.

At Penrith NYC we are also passionate about providing opportunities for young people, which they may not otherwise have. This includes work experience and training - we also welcome DofE participants looking for a volunteering placement after school! Opportunities also include local trips, residentials, and national summer camps, such as Dreaming the Impossible, Scripture Union Camps, and 3Generate.

Whether it’s painting canvases at Studio Art Group, playing rounders at Kirkoswald Youth Club, relaxing at the Gathering, or enjoying donuts at UCC Lunch Club, Penrith NYC strives to provide something for a wide range of interests and needs – and it’s all completely free! Everyone is welcome. Get in touch to learn more about what’s happening in your area!
